Question
Half a day + a night in Bratislava, what to do?
I'm going to Bratislava to take a plane in August and I have a few hours and a night to spend there. Do you have any suggestion for what to see, where to have dinner and a cheap place for the night?
thnx!

Hi Annak!
Definitely do not miss Bratislava Castle. Even if you don’t feel like seeing the medieval exhibits inside, it is worth just because of the panoramic view of the city it offers.
There is also the Primate Palace. It is beautiful. The Old Town of Bratislava is very pretty and has many cute iron sculptures scattered about.
A good place to eat would be Elixír, Štefánikova 14, maybe the king of the local vegetarian restaurant anthill. Serves good soups and a mixture of local, Mexican and Indian dishes in a stylish atmosphere. Don't miss the spinach halušky with blue cheese.
Old City centre has plenty of choice for pubs, some of them perform live music. A hugely popular spot is the Cirkus Barok, a dance club and bar with several floors in a ship anchored on the Danube bank just across the road from the Devin Hotel, near the New Bridge. Metro Music Club in the Slovenska Sporitelna building at Suche Myto offers a mixture of styles, including hip-hop nights, very nice!
Have fun!
Straight to the point:
- Check the city center, which is pretty compact and walkable, and the Castle. I myself would also check Petrzalka district, as it's the most impressive example of socialistic architecture in Central Europe.
- Sleeping: I'd suggest Patio Hostel, in Špitálska 35.
- Eating: can't remember the name, but just cross the street from Patio and you'll find a club named Charlie (not bad either, Špitálska 4) with a cosy cafè just next, sporting great and hearty food and beer.
Enjoy your stay!
